Odarpu Yatra: Jagan to tour Telangana in April Emboldened by his recent foray into Telangana without any hitch, the YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is said to be preparing for his trademark “Odarpu” yatra in the volatile region in April. His party activists and supporters are preparing the ground for the launch of the mass contact programme and they believe that the people in the region would welcome their leader with open arms. During the proposed yatra, Jagan is expected to crisscross the hotbeds of Telangana agitation like Warangal, Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts. There is already a talk that Jagan has bought peace with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi by announcing that he would not field candidates for the by-elections due in Telangana region. On the contentious statehood issue, Jagan will stick to his stand that his party respects the Telangana sentiment and that it would not obstruct the creation of separate state. “YSR was a popular leader in Telangana. The goodwill is bound to transfer to Jagan,” the YSR Congress sources said. The YSR Congress Party is keen to use the coming Odarpu yatra to test the electoral waters for the 2014 poll battle. It’s strategy is aimed at further weakening the Telugu Desam Party which has a strong cadre base in the region. “Don’t be surprised if our party bags over 25 seats in the Telangana region,” the party sources said.
